Treating Muscle Pain

As we prepare for the new year, we do everything we can to get post holiday bodies. Oftentimes, this includes overdoing it at the gym. You should always be careful when exercising, but even the most careful gym rats are prone to some injuries. If you are suffering from muscle pain, there are some options. First of all, if you are suffering from extreme pain, we always recommend seeing a doctor. For minor pain/injuries you can try these helpful tips:

1) Aromatherapy. Essential oils are known to have wonderful side effects, including muscle relaxation. You can add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to your bath or shower, and simply inhaling while your bathing will work wonders. The oils mixed with heat/steam will relax your joints and leave you feeling ready for bed!

2) Massage. Massages can be expensive and not relaxing if you don’t see an experianced Therapist and opt for the luxurious day spa, so it’s important to get the right one if you are getting one. I always recommend doing your research before walking into a spa. For instance, if you aren’t in much pain, you may want to try a Sports massage as it will help elongate your muscles. If you are already in pain, you may want to opt for a “relaxing” or “swedish” massage. “Deep Tissue” tends to be on the more therapeutic side, so steer clear if you are already in extreme pain from the gym.

3) Muscle Freeze. This is a nice alternative or a great addition to a massage. True Organics has a muscle freeze topical analgesic that will help loosen your tight muscles and leave you feeling wonderfully relaxed. You can apply to your problem areas yourself, or you can even ask the massage therapist to use it on you. I promise that this product will help alleviate all those aches and pains you are feeling after a tough workout. All you have to do is rub it into the area that is hurting. This is a base product, but there is already a scent associated with it as it contains menthol. Therefore, you don’t need to add any essential or fragrance oils to the base at all. If you have an essential oil you like that you want to incorporate, simply mix it directly into the product, let it sit for about 20 minutes and apply. Keep the base out of extreme temperatures and you can use it any time you are feeling sore. This muscle freeze product is frequently used by everyone from soldiers to senior citizens.

You need to take care of your body. It’s as simple as that. When we are in the workout-zone, we want to keep going, despite that our bodies may be telling us to slow down or stop. When this happens, it’s important to recover. Drink as much water as possible to moisten those joints, and find a method that works in healing your body. Remember, you will get a better workout when your body is taken care of then you will training on a body that is hurting.
